RESPONSES TO ACCUSATIONS:

LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD

The opposition, the Citizens for Carlisle Schools, has repeatedly and publically through the campaign for the five open Board seats spread accusations against the CASD Team for Change. LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD…

Accusation: The Team for Change will ban books/are book banners.

Truth: No candidate with the Team for Change has ever said they would ban books nor have they suggested books be banned. However, they will be proactive to review materials that parents question to ensure they are age and content appropriate. They also firmly believe transparency of what books and resources are available or are being used in the classroom is common sense.

Accusation: The Team for Change is supported by Moms For Liberty and other concerned parent organizations.

Truth: No candidate with the Team for Change is a member of Moms For Liberty. While the team fully supports parental involvement in their children’s education, no candidate, nor the group as a whole, has accepted funds from organizations promoting an agenda regarding school issues.

Accusation: The Team for Change was hand picked by State Representative Barb Gleim (R).

Truth: The Team for Change is a group of five individual candidates who are Republicans. Each decided to run independently of each other but for similar reasons: poor budget oversight, concerns about Carlisle schools not keeping up with neighboring districts, and a dismissive Board when it comes to parent’s concerns. Pooling their resources for greater impact, the Team for Change works together to campaign and build support for fresh ideas. The Team does recognize that the interest of our local state representative, who is on the State Education Committee and was previously on a local school board, benefits Carlisle Schools. Her insights are received with appreciation with the goal to improve education for all Carlisle students.

Accusation: The Team for Change is hateful and intolerant.

Truth: The Team for Change has done nothing but focus on what is best for all students of the Carlisle Area School District. What the candidates have said individually and as a group supports tolerance without platitudes for a particular group or agenda.

  • What the Team for Change has been accused of is exactly what the opposition is guilty of: hate and fear. The opposition's relentless name calling and slander reveal their lack of thought for the future of Carlisle students.
  • The Team for Change is focused on making Carlisle schools the best option so that alternatives don’t look better.

Accusation: The Team for Change is against teachers.

Truth: The Team for Change wants to support teachers in their profession by treating them like professionals. Setting a high bar for student success, and providing academic support for teachers and students are priorities for the Team.

Voters need to ask themselves:

Do they support the opposition candidates who have a record of raising taxes (for 16 years) while student test scores in all core subjects continue to decline, and graduation rates shrink.

Do they support the opposition candidates who stoop to fear mongering, name calling, and slander in order to make themselves look good?

If so, vote for the status quo OR
